The Benefits of Attending the Smoky Mountain Invitational Swim Meet:
The day(s) can seem long, but swimmers and their families have a lot of fun with teammates.
- Smoky Mountain gives swimmers the chance to see and compete with swimmers from all of the GKAISA leagues, not just the league they are in.
- Attending SMI is good practice for the GKAISA City Championship Meet. It gives kids (and parents) a chance to experience the ins and outs of a big meet before the City Meet.
- SMI (and City) include a 50yd freestyle for 10&unders, a 100yd freestyle for 11&Older, and a co-ed "mixed" freestyle relay. These two meets are the only times your swimmers can experience these specific events.
- The first swimmer to finish in EACH heat receives a special heat winner ribbon regardless of their legal qualifications.
- Your team tent serves as home base. Parents and siblings get a chance to get to know each other and make friends with other families on their team.
- Swimmers have the opportunity to buy a wristband pass to swim between events in the spectator side of pool where there is a big slide. Parents and kids alike enjoy cooling off in the water. Wristbands are sold by session or as a whole day pass. Parents who work volunteer shifts will receive a free wristband.
