Why attend the Smoky Mountain Invitational?
Saturday is the designated day for the Senior Slide.
Sunday, SMI hosts the annual Coaches Relay.
Overview:
SMI is a yearly event put on by the Maryville-Alcoa Flying Dolphins.
This is an outdoor swim meet.
New parents please be advised of the following:
1. Spectator Admission for the Smoky Mountain Invitational is Free!
2. Parking is limited at the Springbrook Pool lot. Please arrive early in order to walk from one of the other parking areas in time to see your child swim in their event(s). Parking areas are clearly designated in the "Directions, Map, & Parking" link on the website. Vehicles parked on streets or blocking driveways anywhere in the neighborhood WILL be towed. You may drop off people or supplies at the pool entrance. No unattended vehicles in drop off area.
3. Due to the outdoor venue, it is advisable to bring the following: sunscreen, bug spray, drinking water, swimsuits for spectators, cash and/or credit for purchases, rain gear, other items needed for inclement weather or extreme heat. Please advise your swimmers to drink lots of fresh water due to the outdoor summer temperatures.
4. The bleachers near the finish side of the pool are provided for spectators watching current events in the water. Please DO NOT 'park' yourselves there.
5. Events in the water are announced via stationed speakers and on the SwimTopia mobile app. Your team will have a designated tent somewhere on the facility. Each year the "Team Tent Location Map" is available online and at the information tent near the main entrance.
6. NO parents are allowed on the deck at either end of the swim lanes.
7. NO parents are allowed in the Clerk of Course Tent area.
8. Springbrook Pool has one restroom facility in the main building. However, quality porta-johns are available in other convenient locations (see "Springbrook Pool Facility Map").
9. Breakfast options are available for purchase at the main gate before 9:00 am. You are welcome to bring your own food. Please, NO glass containers. Concessions available at the pool site from Blount County Parks and Recreation from mid-morning on. Various other vendors are available on site as well.
10. Those who desire to get in the pool recreational area during "Spectator Swim" times can purchase wristbands at the pool.
11. Each team is required to provide parent volunteer workers. These workers will receive complimentary spectator swim wristbands from their team representatives. Contact your team for information regarding volunteer slots. More insight can be found through the Team Worker Information (for Volunteers) link (on the "All You Need To Know" page).
12. Specific swimmer events, and heat and lane assignments are found in the two Heat Sheets available online. One for Saturday, one for Sunday.
13. The Daily Schedule (gate opening, specific meetings, special activities, closing ceremony, etc) and the Event Timeline (approximate forecast for event start times) are also available online.
14. Smoky Signals (professional or personal messages) are available for purchase for a small fee and will be read aloud during the meet by the announcer over the public address speakers.
15. Final times for each event are posted on the bulletin board near the main entrance after all information is gathered from the officials following the last heat of that event.
16. A Medal Award Ceremony for each day will be held near the main entrance after the final event of the day.
17. LOST & FOUND is at the Information Tent.
18. The FIRST AID STATION is located at the Lifeguard Office in the southwest area of the pool building.
